Add Watermark
Add a text or image watermark across every page of a PDF. Set opacity, rotation, and position, and preview it on your real pages before downloading. Nothing is uploaded — everything happens in your browser.
Getting the watermark right
A light, diagonal watermark across the middle of the page is the classic look for marking a document as a draft or sample, without making the underlying content hard to read — that's what the default settings give you. Lower opacity keeps pages more readable; higher opacity makes the watermark harder to remove or crop out. Use text for something like "DRAFT" or a company name, or switch to image mode to stamp a logo (PNG or JPG). The position grid and page range work the same as Add Page Numbers, so you can confirm placement on the live preview before saving.
How to use Add Watermark
- Drop the PDF you want to watermark.
- Choose Text and type your words, such as DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL, or choose Image and pick a PNG or JPG logo.
- Set the colour (black, gray or red), size, opacity, rotation (0, 45, -45 or 90 degrees) and position. The preview updates on your real pages.
- Optionally limit the watermark to a page range, then click Add watermark.
Good to know before you start
- The watermark is drawn over the page content. A determined person with editing software can still remove a text watermark, so it signals ownership rather than giving strong protection.
- Use a PNG with a transparent background for logos; a JPG logo keeps its white box.
- Solid opacity can hide the content underneath. Light or Medium is usually enough for a DRAFT stamp.
Add Watermark: frequently asked questions
What opacity should I use?
Light (15 percent) or Medium (30 percent) keeps the page easy to read while making the watermark obvious. Use Dark or Solid only for a sample you don't want people to use.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Set the page range and only those pages get the watermark. The rest are left unchanged.
Can I add my company logo?
Yes. Switch to Image mode and choose a PNG or JPG. A PNG with a transparent background looks cleanest.
Will the watermark show when the PDF is printed?
Yes. It becomes part of each page, so it shows on screen and in print.
