Fill PDF Forms

Fill in the fields of a PDF form — text boxes, checkboxes, and dropdowns from the original file — right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded — everything happens on your device.

Filling an existing form

This fills in fields the PDF already has — it doesn't add new fields to a plain, non-form document. If a file has no fillable fields, you'll see that as soon as it's uploaded, before you fill in anything. Turn on "Flatten" before saving to lock in your answers so the fields can no longer be edited — useful once a form is finished and ready to send. Leave it off if you or someone else might need to go back and change an answer later.

How to use Fill PDF Forms

  1. Drop a PDF that has fillable fields, such as an application or tax form.
  2. The form's fields are listed: text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns, radio buttons and option lists.
  3. Fill in your answers. Turn on Flatten if the form is final and shouldn't be edited again.
  4. Click Save filled PDF to download the completed form.

Good to know before you start

  • This fills fields that already exist in the PDF. A scanned or printed form with no fields will show a message that there's nothing to fill. Use Sign PDF to add a signature to those.
  • Some uncommon field types aren't supported and are skipped.
  • Flattening is permanent in the downloaded copy, so keep an unflattened copy if you might need to change an answer.

Fill PDF Forms: frequently asked questions

How do I know if my PDF is fillable?

Drop it in. If it has form fields they're listed right away; if not, you'll see a message straight away, before you type anything.

What does Flatten do?

It turns your answers into regular page content so they can't be edited. Use it when you send a finished form, and leave it off if you'll make changes later.

Is it safe to fill forms with personal details here?

The form is filled in your browser and never sent to a server, so names, ID numbers and addresses stay on your device.

Can I add a signature to the form?

Save the filled form first, then open it in Sign PDF to draw, type or upload your signature.
